Therefore, it is very important to update and care for insulators regularly. Recently, Zhuzhou Power Supply Company in Hunan Province has completed the replacement of insulators live.
On October 22, the live transmission operation class of Zhuzhou Power Supply Company in Hunan Province replaced composite insulators for 220 KV King Line. The first ground potential live replacement of 220 KV tension-resistant double-string composite insulators was successfully tried out in China.
Composite insulators are widely used in 220 kV and above lines of Zhuzhou Power Grid. Zhuzhou is located in the hilly area of central Hunan Province. Lightning activities are frequent. In addition to the developed heavy industry in the city, pollution flashover failures occur from time to time. Every year, more than 60 composite insulators (strings) need to be replaced due to pollution, lightning strike, external force damage, aging and detection. The safe and stable operation pressure of transmission lines is high. In January this year, the project of replacing 220 KV tension-resistant composite insulator by ground potential live mode was established. In July, the mechanical and electrical tests of metal clamps and insulating pulling plates of the new tool were successful.
The success of this experiment not only brings a new page to the replacement of insulators, but also brings innovative consciousness to the manufacturers of insulators.
